The latest from CA: Prop 8

From the Los Angeles Times:

A federal judge declared California's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional Wednesday, saying that no legitimate state interest justified treating gay and lesbian couples differently from others and that "moral disapproval" was not enough to save the voter-passed Proposition 8.

This is HUGE. Like... I can't even tell you, but I hope some of what I'm feeling gets through. I know this is an uphill battle. I know that this is probably going to the US Supreme Court, and that all those people who might have accepted this ruling at a state level will fight it at a federal level, not to mention the people that are just going to fight even more. But this is change, and hope, and right now I just want to relish it.

ISN'T IT FANTASTIC! I've lost count of how many times I've broken into spontaneous dance to celebrate the awesomeness that is this ruling. This is the best thing to happen on the equal marriage from in, like, forever. Suffice to say, I'm pretty excited too :D

Awesome! I hope that some other state (not like my crappy rock in the middle of the ocean) can make the same-sex marriage thing happen. I really think it'll happen in our lifetime... keeping my fingers crossed ^_^

I would be seriously thrilled if it happened in our lifetime. *crosses fingers with you* :D

That's awesome!!
I'm so happy for all of you there. I really hope that this will bring a huge change, a turn for the better.
I remember talking about Prop 8 in my english class back in 2008. We all were so shocked and couldn't understand how something like this could happen in a seemingly modern state. Including me as a bisexual we had three gay people in our class and we were speechless.

America is a very fascinating (and frustrating) study in contradictions. >.< But it's a step, y'know? We're farther than we were even 5 years ago, and hopefully 5 years from now we'll be even closer to equality.

This has made me so exceedingly happy all week. :D I just can't even express how excited I am. I found out via Twitter on my phone while I was in the car coming back from a shitty school orientation and my mood did a complete 180 and I went from whining to clapping and jumping up and down in my seat. <33 I hope this progress continues.

Yeah, I'm still kind of like :D even though it's already been a few days. :)
